Whose House We Are

Isaiah 66:1 unveils to us the longing of the God of the universe—that although God has heaven for His throne and the earth as His footstool, He is “homeless;” He is seeking a house, a place for His rest. In the Old Testament, God’s people erected the tabernacle and built the temple, places where His glory could abide. Nevertheless, His ultimate intention was not to make His home in a physical building. His deep desire, rather, was to become a man, Jesus Christ, then to die and resurrect to join Himself to His people, making them His corporate dwelling place, the church. God’s house, the church, is still being built today.
